Peptides typically act as signaling molecules in the body by binding to receptors on the cell surface and telling other cells and molecules what to do. A peptide is a small protein and over 7,000 naturally-occurring peptides have been identified that occur in our bodies.
Insulin is a familiar example of a natural peptide. Glucagon-like-peptide is a natural peptide that helps manage blood sugar. Several prescription drugs used in treating diabetes are actually peptides.
Peptide therapy is a powerful tool to help with weight loss. There are several available and they work in different ways thus making it logical to use several complementary peptides for weight loss.
We order peptides from specialty pharmacies including Tailor Made Compounding, and CRE8 Pharmacy, and they are shipped directly to patients. For more information on peptide therapies in general see our Peptide Therapy page.
Peptides for Weight Loss
Amlexanox inhibits expression of “fat genes,” reduces hemoglobin A1C, increases insulin sensitivity, and boosts metabolism. It is taken 3x/day as an oral capsule.
AOD-9604 (Advanced Obesity Drug) is an anti-obesity peptide that has the fat burning effects of human growth hormone (HGH) without the muscle-building effect. Like Growth Hormone, AOD-9604 stimulates lipolysis (the breakdown or destruction of fat) and inhibits lipogenesis (the transformation of fatty food materials into body fat). It is taken as a 1x/day sublingual troche or subcutaneous injection.
Exenatide-Methycobalamin. Exenatide acts as a glucagon-like-peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. GLP-1 is a hormone produced in the small intestine that stimulates insulin secretion, inhibits glucagon secretion and slows gastric emptying, thereby lowering blood sugar. Combining methylcobalamin (an active form of vitamin B12) with exenatide helps manage the side effect of fatigue and decreased appetite found with exanatide alone. It is taken as a subcutaneous injection 2x/day within 60 minutes prior to the largest meals of the day.
Human Growth Hormone secretagogues. There are several peptides that stimulate an increase in HGH and addition to breaking down fat, similar to AOD-9604 peptide, they also have more general HGH effects such as building muscle and bone. Examples include Sermorelin, CJ1295, Ipamorelin and Ibutamorelin (MK677). They are available as daily subcutaneous injections or sublingual troches.
