Skin Care / Cosmetics
Bellezza Laser Aesthetics is the only clinic in the region that specializes in skin care both inside and out!
Our team of "certified laser specialists" bring years of experience, training and a passion for excellence when it comes to skin care. By working within the Integrative Medicine Center they are able to recognize and refer patients when medical evaluation is indicated.
Conditions such as acne or excess hair growth are readily treated with laser therapy. However, these type of conditions are typically a symptom of an underlying medical disorder. True to our mission statement we seek to find the "root cause" and cure conditions so many patients in the laser clinic are referred to our expert medical team for further evaluation.
Aging skin can be restored for a more youthful appearance and a truly healthier skin. Conditions such as hormone imbalances, digestive dysfunction, and nutrient deficiencies can harm and age skin. Medical grade topical and oral supplements help maintain healthy skin and improve the signs of skin aging.
Our skin care team works together closely with our medical team to bring you the best skin care possible. We are the only clinic in the region offering a free consultation to inquire about our clinic. We encourage you to shop around and discover why we are the best!
Laser Skin Care and Skin Health
The science of laser skin care is not as mysterious as it may seem. In fact, the basics are quite simple, effective, and a safe means of preventing many skin problems as well as restoring some of the youthful characteristics of the skin.
Laser therapy is basically the transference of light energy into tissue where it is absorbed and released as heat. This achieves numerous results depending upon the exact wavelength of light. For example, shorter wave lengths of light will be absorbed more superficially and are great for treating surface conditions. Longer wavelengths penetrate deeper and will improve the texture and tone of skin. The interesting thing is that laser is a somewhat “natural” way to improve skin health, in that is works by stimulating the body’s own collagen to strengthen and restore itself.
Laser skin treatment has both medical and cosmetic applications. It can treat various medical conditions like acne, broken capillaries or rosacea. More aesthetic treatments include skin tightening and removal of hair or brown spots. Tattoo removal is another very popular cosmetic treatment.
A newer technology in the skin care field is “body contouring”. This is not actually a laser light but rather a device which emits radiofrequency energy and will shrink the fat cells just underneath the skin. This reduces cellulite prone bulges while tightening and smoothing the overlying skin. The treatment is ideal for reshaping problem areas and is not intended for weight loss. With body contouring we include a complimentary referral to our staff dietician and exercise physiologist. This helps our patients achieve superior results that go beyond the treatment.
At Bellezza, our philosophy of great skin care is more than skin deep. We take a comprehensive approach to skin care and emphasize more than just getting treatments. For example, skin health is influenced by diet, hydration, stress, hormone status and lifestyle.
Foods have an impact on skin health - our dietician can advise patients on foods that can worsen and foods that can improve skin health. Drinking plenty of water is a basic yet critical part of skin health. Stress and the resulting high cortisol production ages skin – we use treatments such as acupuncture, massage, yoga, and herbal medicine to help patients lower cortisol levels. Hormones such as estrogen and thyroid are critical for skin support by increasing collagen and hydration of skin - many of our patients note huge improvements in skin health with hormone replacement. Our medical director, Dr Scott Rollins, specializes in bioidentical hormone replacement and thyroid disorders.
Educating patients on proper skin care is critical in preventing skin aging and maintaining skin health. Sun protection is paramount and it is important to get a product with titanium dioxide or zinc oxide to really prevent sun damage – and to use it daily! Emphasize daily cleansing and moisturizing with clinic recommended products. Exfoliating dead surface skin and debris with topical products such as Differin Gel can improve skin health and appearance. There are newer bioactive products such as ABI’s Moisturizing Antioxidant with Copper and Coenzyme Q or NIA 24 that work within the cells to aid in DNA repair, cell turnover, wound repair and hyperpigmentation issues.
Our skin is the largest organ in our body and has a considerable influence on our well being, both from a medical as well as psychological standpoint. Consider laser skin therapy as part of skin care, and skin care as part of your overall health routine.
